The Nor-Amberd schools, initiated by Artem Alikhanyan in the early
1960s, were devoted to some of the most important problems of the time
in high-energy and elementary-particle physics. They were held on the
slopes of Mount Aragats in Armenia, near Amberd, a medieval fortress
associated with the Bagratid dynasty of Armenian kings. Many leading
scientists from around the world lectured there, and many young
participants later became prominent theoretical physicists. Our aim is
to revive the tradition and spirit of the Nor-Amberd schools by bringing
together young researchers and established scientists to discuss current
problems in theoretical physics.
Location:
This year, the school will take place in Tsaghkadzor, a mountain resort
approximately 65 km from Yerevan and Zvartnots International Airport.
